MCS-150 Update: a clear path from review to confirmation

Common questions

MCS-150 Update FAQ

How often is an MCS-150 update required?

Motor carriers generally must update USDOT registration information every two years, even if the information has not changed. Updates may also be needed when company information changes.

What information should I review before filing?

Review the legal name, DBA, addresses, contacts, operation and cargo classifications, power-unit and driver counts, and mileage information associated with the USDOT record.

Does filing an MCS-150 replace other registrations?

No. It updates the USDOT record but does not replace operating authority, UCR, IRP, IFTA, tax, insurance, or state-specific requirements.
